ENGLISH FORUM

INTRODUCTION
  • The English forum is an academic endeavor of MIT Group of Institutes which is envisaged by the Honorable Vice Chairman Academics & Communication Skills Department, Mahakal Institute of Technology to boost the students confidence level & to sharpen their latent skills. English Forum organizes workshops, seminars, competitions for students and faculties in collaboration with ELT@I, Ujjain Chapter. The forum has developed two modules comprising of need based content in I Semester as well as II Semester.

LOGO
  • The logo aptly justifies the core objective of the forum. Listening, Speaking, Reading & Writing Skills are inevitable to groom and all round development of personality. English is undoubtedly a link language that helps an individual to connect with the world.

MISSION
  • English Forum is formed to accelerate student oriented activities as to enable them to develop their confidence level and work upon their opportunities.

VISION
  • The forum has a holistic vision and has firm belief in working for betterment of the students and development of need based study materials and innovative teaching methodology.

OBJECTIVES
  • To enable the students to face the challenges of globalized world successfully.

    To remove hesitation and stage fear.

    To provide learners a suitable platform to communicate confidently.

    To master Listening, Speaking, Reading & Writing Skills.

    To enhance their knowledge bank and develop thinking skills.

Poster Presentation Competition on World Human Rights Day (12 Dec., 2015)
  • Poster Presentation Competition on the occasion of Human Rights Day was held on 12th December, 2015 under the aegis of English Forum and ELT@I Ujjain Chapter. The Competition was organized exclusively for first year students and the topics for Poster Presentation were Human Rights and Simhastha 2016. Devesh Deshpande from first year Mechanical Branch won First Prize in the competition.

A Short Term English Speaking Programme for Beginners Phase II (18-21 November, 2015)
  • The Course was conducted for First Year /First Semester students of MIT Group. Students practiced speaking English in four days schedule through various activities such as speeches, group discussions and presentations.

A Short Term English Speaking Programme for Beginners Phase I (16-24 September, 2015)
  • The programme was organized for First Year /First Semester students of MIT Group in collaboration with ELT@I Ujjain chapter. The students were asked to fill a questionnaire and on the basis of their choices, they were selected for the course. Students learnt in this programme about correct usage of grammar, art of conversation, writing applications and spoken English through various activities. The course also included meanings and explanation of engineering and pharmaceutical terms used in mathematics and basic sciences by expert subject faculties.

An Intermediate Level Short term English Speaking Programme at MIPS (11 April-18 April 2015)
  • The programme was exclusively organized for First Year /First Semester students of Pharmacy in collaboration with ELT@I Ujjain Chapter. The students were asked to fill a questionnaire and on the basis of their choices, a comprehensive need based module was developed for them. The course also included meanings and explanation of technical terms used in engineering mathematics and basic sciences by expert subject faculties.

A Short Term Advance Level English Speaking Programme (18-28 February, 2015)
  • The programme was organized for First Year /Second Semester students of MIT Group in collaboration of ELT@I Ujjain chapter. The module was designed for the students who successfully completed the intermediate level English Speaking Programme through which they learnt about usage of Professional English in Debate, GD and Mock Interview session.

Poster Presentation Competition on World Human Rights Day (10 December, 2014)
  • On the occasion of World Human Rights Day, Poster Presentation Competition on the themes: Human Rights and Responsibilities and Clean & Green India, was organized with the participation of 30 students. As a Chief Guest Mr. Mahendra Gadia a member of Human Rights Commission Ujjain judged the event. Hardiki Sharma from first year was the winner. A cleanliness drive Swachh Bharat Abhiyan for first year students, was also organized on this occasion.

National Level Seminar on Professional Writing (27 September, 2014)
  • One Day National Seminar on “Professional Writing” (for faculty and research scholars) was organized on 27th September, 2014 in collaboration with ELT@I Ujjain Chapter and Department of Communication Skills, MIT Group. Dr. Achala Sharma (HOD, School of Studies in English, Vikram University) was the Key Note Speaker of the Seminar and Dr. Anjana Pandey, Dr. B.K. Anjana and Dr. Rooble Verma were the resource persons. Around 110 delegates participated in the seminar.

A Short Term English Speaking Programme for Beginners (11-23 September, 2014)
  • With the objective to give platform to first year students, remove stage fear and groom them as per the engineering curriculum, a Short Term English Speaking Programme for Beginners was organized for First Semester students of MIT Group in collaboration with ELT@I Ujjain Chapter.
